Colombian Association of Obesity and Bariatric Surgery
ACOCIB is an association dedicated to the study and management of Obesity, from its clinical and surgical context; we can present it as the only Association in the country, internationally endorsed by the most prestigious and outstanding entities, such as the WOF – formerly known as the IASO (International Association for Study of Obesity) -, FLASO (Latin American Federation of Obesity Societies) and the IFSO (International Federation of the Surgery in Obesity).

It was founded in 1975 under the name of ASCOM by Dr. Rafael Gómez Cuevas, a renowned endocrinologist of the country; this Association has been maturing and in recent years, with the inclusion of Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery and the multidisciplinary support of professionals and academics, changed its name to the current one, Colombian Association of Obesity and Bariatric Surgery, ACOCIB.
